Labour Action for Equity Course

February 8, 2024 by Lynelle Yutani Leave a Comment

Register NOW for the CAUT Labour Action for Equity Course — March 4 – 15, 2024

Here’s another great educational opportunity being offered in conjunction with the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) through our Federation of Post Secondary Educators (FPSE) affiliation! This is an ideal course where ongoing organizing with your association’s members is critical for successful collective bargaining as well as promoting diversity equity, and inclusion, collegial governance, academic freedom, and other social justice causes. I don’t know if you all remember that we’re actually starting to prepare for Bargaining RIGHT NOW! I know, it seems like we just barely ratified our last contract, (we did); but, it can take almost a year to prepare a new package of proposals and if EDI is on the top of your list of Bargaining Priorities, maybe this is the course for you!

Labour Action for Equity — March 4 – 15, 2024 ·
Six online modules – work at your own pace between March 4 – 15, 2024·
One three-hour online webinar Friday March 16, 2024 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

During this course you will:

  • Define how their association can promote equity within their association and on the campus;
  • Identify how to promote equity in their collective agreement and in collective bargaining;
  • Strategize how to use the grievance process to advance equity;
  • Map the parameters of a campaign to promote equity;
  • Synthesize their key learning for this course.

As part of our affiliation agreement with CAUT, FPSE undertakes registration for our 19 FPSE locals (CCFA is Local 12) and submits a final registration list to CAUT.

To register, please complete the online registration form below by 4:00 PM on Thursday February 22, 2024 (No registrations can be accepted after this point).

Registration Form

Registration confirmation will be sent via email from CAUT by March 4, 2024, and include details for accessing the Canvas Learning Management System and Zoom links for virtual webinars.

Invitations to register for the other upcoming spring courses will be coming shortly. It’s never to early for members to invest in their Labour Relations environment. We all have a duty to protect, defend, and enhance our Collective Agreement rights! Maybe you’ve been considering joining our Contract Negotiations Committee (CNC) and you are interested in learning a bit more about Bargaining before you get in touch with our CNC Chair? Then this next course is perfect for you! Keep an eye out for the next callout!
