Past Members, You Need to Apply Now for Retro Pay!

October 16, 2023 by Lynelle Yutani 2 Comments

Red Flashy Attention Image!

Attention Members and former Camosun Employees!

Please share this with any former faculty members that you know!  We have a new Collective Agreement!  What’s in it? Visit our FAQs to learn more!

If you worked for Camosun between April 1, 2022 & September 21, 2023, you are eligible for BACK PAY, but you need to apply!

This applies to ALL Substitute Instructors, Term Instructors & Non-Teaching Term Faculty, and Faculty who have left the college’s employment for any reason except retirement.  Current employees do not need to apply for retro pay, including employees on any category of leave.

Application for Retro Wage Increases Term of Collective Agreement:    3 Years – April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2025   Note:  April 1, 2022 and April 1, 2023 increases are applicable to current employees who are members of the bargaining unit on the date of ratification (September 21, 2023).  Notwithstanding the foregoing, any former employees who worked for the College and were part of the bargaining unit at any point between April 1, 2022 and September 20,  2023 must apply to the College within 6 weeks of ratification to be eligible to receive the increased amount as retroactive pay. It is understood that any retroactive payments will be processed when practicable.   Please refer to the Memorandum of Settlement signed by the Parties for additional information or contact Michael Stewart, CCFA Contract Negotiations Chair, for further information.

As noted above, any former employees (those without an active CCFA position on September 21, 2023 and who worked for Camosun College and were part of the CCFA bargaining unit between April 1, 2022 and September 20, 2023) need to apply to Camosun College within 6 weeks of ratification (i.e. by November 2, 2023) to be eligible and receive the increased amount as retroactive pay.  If you were a former employee to whom this applies, please follow the link provided directly below to submit your application for retroactive pay:

Link for Retroactive Pay

*Please note the application deadline is November 2, 2023

Once you have submitted the application form, the Camosun Payroll and HR teams will review your application details to determine eligibility and, if eligible, calculate the amount of retro pay due to you.

This complex calculation will take time to verify for eligible former CCFA employees. Please note that you will receive an email when your application has been processed for payment.  Should you dispute the accuracy of your payment, please contact us!

Worried that you might have missed this important information had you left the college? Us too! That’s why we ask all of our members to fill out our Member Details Form online. It is a secure form and we will only contact you in situations like this! It is especially important that Term Faculty give us their personal email addresses because the college refuses to share that information with the Union.

Make no mistake, the College will be receive all that we are owed in retro pay and will get to pocket anything leftover, so please make sure all of our past colleagues see this message!

We express our profound gratitude to our traditional hosts’ welcome and tolerance of our uninvited presence while we strive to dismantle our colonial, patriarchal, and racist cultural biases.
