Submitted by Pei Mei Chia,

Join us at Na’tsa’maht at Lansdowne and in the CBA Atrium at Interurban on Tuesday, May 14 from 11 am – 1 pm

Chairs, faculty, and administration from the School of Access are inviting you to an opportunity to bask in Asian culture by showcasing some traditional activities and new experiences! For this first annual Asian Heritage Month event, the departments in the School will be welcoming the College community simultaneously on each campus on Tuesday, May 14 from 11 am – 1 pm to participate in one or all of the following activities!

1. Origami – kits provided

2. Get a Henna tattoo by a professional artist

3. Try a new Asian-inspired popsicle flavor by 49 Below (very limited quantities!)

4. Take a picture of yourself in the photo booth wearing a traditional Asian outfit: Korean tradition dress at Lans or a sari at IU

5. Check out the display of books written by Asian authors at the Libraries + a list of the   titles to takeaway

6. Take part in the scavenger hunt to win a $25 bookstore gift certificate at each campus

7. Check out the bulletin board presentations of Asian authors in each Help Centre

8. Get busy making paper fortune cookies and enter yours to win a book by a national best-seller, Alice Wong

9. Listen to music from different cultures as you browse

Pei Mei Chia

Member-at-Large, CCFA Executive

She is a long-standing faculty member in ELD, and current co-  Chair. When not on campus, PM can be found on the greens lawn bowling, paddling in a dragon boat, riding on the back of a horse, hurrying hard on a sheet of ice at the curling rink, playing her guitar and singing, and/or sitting on an organizing committee just for the love of it. Clearly, a person of several passions!
