Greetings Members!
You should already have a “save the date” meeting invite for our Annual General Meeting (AGM) invitation your Outlook calendars, now May 22 from 9:00 AM – 1:30 PM, including lunch. Contact us, if you don’t! After our Winter General Meeting, members noted that our meeting had been scheduled in conflict with commencement! We elected to reschedule the AGM to avoid anyone feeling conflicted when deciding which event to attend. That meant moving the date up a month! So please forgive us for any communications frenzy while we hurry to meet all the required AGM deadlines in our bylaws.
Again, the CCFA Executive would like to express our gratitude for the members in CETL who helped the Union find a new date for the AGM by rescheduling one of their workshops. Please share your appreciation to them for this very simple but poignant act of solidarity by attending!
We’ll conduct our business in the morning, including elections, followed by Lunch at Lansdowne in the Sherri Bell Hall. Our AGM switches between campuses each year, so we’ll see you at IU in 2025!
Schedule:
- 9:00 – 9:30: Tea & Coffee served as Members assemble together, please remember to bring your own coffee mugs, glasses, or water bottles!
- 9:30 – 12:30: AGM Business (Executive Officer Reports, Discussion & Approval of Draft Budget, Election of the 2024/2025 CCFA Executive)
- 12.30 – 1:30: Door Prizes followed by a Lunch Social.
When you RSVP to attend, please let us know if you have any allergies/dietary requirements. We aim to reduce food waste by ordering only for those who accept the invite, but inevitably end up with extra so please, bring your take-home containers, too!
ALL MEMBERS should know that you HAVE THE RIGHT to attend, even if this meeting conflicts with your teaching schedule. Now, we know that not everyone is interested or willing to step away from teaching just to attend a Union meeting, but, if you want to, all you have to do is politely inform your Dean or Director in advance that you won’t be available to teach during the meeting. It is best to give adequate notice so they can arrange a substitute for your class whenever possible.
If you think you might be interested in serving on our Executive, committee get in touch with the CCFA Nominations Committee. Not sure if working with the Union is right for you? Read this recent Confluence Blog Post by Pei Mei Chia, one of our newest Executive Members!
