A Few Helpful Reminders for CCFA Members – Fall 2024

September 27, 2024 by Lynelle Yutani Leave a Comment

Hi Members!

A few end-of-the-month reminders, but trying to keep this brief because the official digest comes out next week!

  • The first open CCFA Pub Night is October 1, 5:30 PM, at Fifth Street Pub. Reply to this message if you don’t have the invites.
  • If you are eligible, your Lifestyle & Wellness Savings Account has been upgraded!
  • Continuing Members, you still have time to opt out of parking and get your FREE BUS PASS!
  • Did you get a ticket for parking at IU during our Parking Grievance?  You only have until Dec 20 to apply for a refund.
  • New & Term faculty have been invited to a special infosession to kick off our annual Fair Employment Campaign! Reply to this message if you want to join!
  • If you’re due for appraisal this semester, your admin office should have already notified you to make arrangements.  Be sure you know your rights and responsibilities by reading our blog post about it!
  • Remember, the Fall General Meeting is just around the corner, October 15 @ 3 PM!

Be on the lookout for our Bargaining Team and Exec members circulating in your areas.  They’ll be dropping into your department and team meetings with our Bargaining Survey!  I know it seems obscenely soon, since we don’t even have an official copy of the last collective agreement, yet – but if we want to get a good deal, one that addresses YOUR biggest issues, we need to hear all of your voices!

I also want to thank the English Department’s Indigenization Working Group for their amazing allyship during Thursday’s Camosun College Orange Shirt Ceremony.  Let their example be a guide to us as we honour and remember all those who have been affected by the terrible legacy of Residential Schools on September 30.

Lynelle Yutani, CCFA President 2021-2023

Lynelle Yutani (she/they)
ac.ytlucafnusomac@tnediserp

President, Camosun College Faculty Association

Lynelle is a queer, leftist rabble-rouser galvanized to guard the rights of union members and is on a crusade to convince you that you get out of your Union what you put into it. Lynelle serves on Presidents Council of the Federation of Post-Secondary Educators (FPSE) and was elected to FPSE Executive as a Member-at-Large. She is on a number of FPSE affiliate committees, including the 2SLGBTQIA+ and Racialized Workers Caucuses for the BC Fed, and is active in the Victoria Labour Congress. Lynelle volunteers for a rooftop community garden, which partners with Harvest & Share Food Aid Society to grow fresh produce for local food banks and community food security programs.
