Did you get snowed in?
A message from your stewards on the Contract Management Committee:
If you had to miss either Wednesday or Thursday morning last week, when the college was open for business, because of inclement weather, here are your choices regarding the missed time (either a half day or a whole day, depending on whether you missed one or both mornings):
- You can apply to take unpaid leave. This means losing pay for that time.
- You can apply to take vacation leave. This means adjusting how much vacation time you have left and thus returning from your vacation a half-day or day earlier than you otherwise would have done.
If you had no on-campus duties scheduled and did your work off campus, you should not lose time or money.
For the two afternoons that the college was closed, no action is necessary. You get paid for that time regardless.
Your individual School or Division office may have specific absence and leave reporting protocols, be sure you know what those are and follow them appropriately. Leave Forms are available on the College Intranet. You’ll need to enter your password and be logged into the VPN to access them. If you believe that your Leave has been unreasonably denied (for this or any other leave), get in touch with us right away!
