2022 Fall GM – Thursday, November 3, 3:00-4:30 PM – Online

Na'tsa'maht - Working Together as One: Artist Butch Dick

Attention Camosun College Faculty Association Members, your Fall General Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 3, 2022, from 3:00 to 4:30 PM.  Please check your Outlook Calendar to make sure you’ve received our invite and link.  If you haven’t gotten an invite, please contact us.  This is an important meeting for all Term AND Continuing Faculty members to attend!  You’ll have a chance to learn about our Bargaining Package and vote on the final Bargaining Mandate.  CCFA General Meetings are held virtually, run on time or conclude early.  They include Executive Reports, Budget Discussions, Updates on CCFA Committees, Door Prizes, and opportunities for members to provide feedback to your Union Executives on how your union is run!  We can’t wait to see you there!

We are grateful to the Indigenous artist, Butch Dick, for our signature General Meeting image. The CCFA has conveyed our gratitude and appreciation for the ongoing rights to use this image with a heartfelt, hand-written thank-you note accompanied by an appropriate honorarium. Butch has expressed pleasure that we continue to use the image in our work. He shared that the canoe signifies a journey and the wolf in the canoe is a traditional lək̓ʷəŋən image tied to the territory and the paddle raised represents victory.

Recently I heard bargaining described as being in “the Arena, fighting like gladiators”. But, maybe Butch’s image is actually more appropriate. The CCFA is about to embark on one of a union’s most important journeys, that of bargaining a new Collective Agreement; and we all hope for nothing less than a triumphant return under raised paddles representing victory!

If you you’re a current CCFA Member and don’t have our invite already in your Outlook Calendar, please contact us. Otherwise, we look forward to seeing you there. As a reminder to faculty, we do not record General Meetings. You must be present to vote and all discussions of our Bargaining Mandates are considered private and confidential between union members. Minutes of CCFA General Meetings are made available to invitees and by personal request. Announcements for meetings, events, infosessions, workshops and other union news are available via “opt-in” subscription and distributed monthly via the Camosun College CCFA listserv monthly as a Confluence Blog digest.
