Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Annual General Meeting on Thursday, April 30. We know this is an especially busy and demanding time, and we truly appreciate members taking the time to attend, connect, and stay informed.
Congratulations to your newly elected CCFA Executives!
We are happy to announce that the following nominees have been elected or acclaimed to Office for 2026-27:
President: Lynelle Yutani (HHS)
VP: Blair Fisher (A&A)
Treasurer: Muyang (Mike) Zhong (STEM)
Contract Management Committee Chair: Peter Ove (A&A)
Contract Negotiating Committee Chair: Michael Stewart (A&A)
Professional Development Committee Chair: Martha McAlister (Learning Services)
Secretary: Keith Yacucha (BUS)
Member-at-large: Kendal Adam, Term Rep (HSHS), Julia Grav (BUS), Derek Murray (Learning Services)
The new Executive Committee members will take office on September 1, 2026.
We are also pleased to inform you that Isabel Grondin (CSEE) has been re-elected to the position of CCFA Representative on the PD Committee, effective immediately.
The Executive Committee extends our gratitude to the Nominations Committee—Frank Jankunis, Paula Littlejohn, and Kelly Pitman for organizing and conducting an effective election. We would also like to thank Peg Ford and Eva Jaycox for all of their hard work in putting together our AGM meeting.
Throughout the morning session, members received a President’s report from Lynelle Yutani, important updates on bargaining from Michael Stewart, Contract Negotiating Committee Chair, as well as a report from Peter Ove, Contract Management Chair, outlining current grievances and projects underway. We also heard updates related to Section 54 and the layoff process currently taking place at Camosun. Mike Zhong, Treasurer, also presented the draft budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year.
This is an unusual and challenging moment for our community, with bargaining, layoffs, and broader cutbacks all happening at once. We recognize the impact this has on members, and we want to acknowledge the significant work being done by our team to support faculty during this time.
The morning session was wrapped up with a demonstration by Lynelle Yutani of the new PD automated process, which is now going into use with a small group of faculty to start!
In the afternoon, members participated in a bargaining workshop, Know Your Power and Be Prepared to Act ,which included an engaging presentation by Weldon Cowan on how colleges are governed in British Columbia. The session offered valuable insights and context that many attendees found both informative and eye-opening.
Congratulations to our three door prize winners: Helen Kobrc, Jennifer Phillips, and Natasha Parrish, who each received $50 Downtown Victoria Gift Cards!
All of the Executive reports were attached to your meeting invite so you can catch up in case you missed the meeting.
The PD Committee reminds you to GET YOUR PD APPLICATION IN BEFORE THE SUMMER BREAK! We only have 3 more meetings, and the deadline for the final meeting before we resume in September is NOON, THURSDAY JUNE 18th. Please contact the CCFA office if you have any questions, or if you would like to be one of our beta testers and complete your application on the new automated PD system: ac.nusomac@DP-AFCC
Thank you as well to our Federation of Post-Secondary Educators (FPSE) 2025 AGM Delegation!
Thank you so much to everyone who attended the AGM last week and for giving me the opportunity to serve you for another year as your president!

Lynelle is a queer, leftist rabble-rouser galvanized to guard the rights of union members and is on a crusade to convince you that you get out of your Union what you put into it. Lynelle serves on Presidents Council of the Federation of Post-Secondary Educators (FPSE) and was elected to FPSE Executive as a Member-at-Large. She is on a number of FPSE affiliate committees, including the 2SLGBTQIA+ and Racialized Workers Caucuses for the BC Fed. Lynelle volunteers for a rooftop community garden, which partners with Harvest & Share Food Aid Society to grow fresh produce for local food banks and community food security programs.
