2025 Fall GM – Thursday, October 09, 3:00-4:30 PM – Hybrid

Na'tsa'maht - Working Together as One: Artist Butch Dick

Attention CCFA Members,

Please join us in-person or on Zoom for the CCFA Fall General Meeting.  This is an opportunity to come together, hear from each other, and be included in the operation of your union.  The more you participate, the stronger we are!

Location: Y-227, Lansdowne Campus or via Zoom invites sent to your Outlook Calendar

Tentative agenda:

  • Reports from Executive officers
  • Review of 2025-26 budget
  • Review and election of committee representatives
  • Door prizes!

We hope to see you there!

ALL MEMBERS should know that you HAVE THE RIGHT to attend, even if this meeting conflicts with your teaching schedule. Now, we know that not everyone is interested or willing to step away from teaching just to attend a Union meeting, but, if you want to all you have to do is politely inform your Dean or Director that you won’t be available to teach during the meeting.

Clause 23. Union Rights

23.04 Release Time

(b) Professional Meetings

(ii) Up to four (4) times a year Faculty Members covered by this Agreement will be released at their request from their classes or from other assigned duties in order to attend meetings of the Union for up to two (2) hours on each occasion. When possible, the Union agrees to schedule such meetings so as to minimize disruption to students. The Dean or Director may cancel the classes or make other arrangements at the Dean or Director’s discretion.

This clause was written and negotiated to make it possible for everyone to attend all of our meetings. Our General Meetings are only 1.5 hours, so even if all of them were in conflict with your teaching schedules, you’d have the right to attend them all.

If you’re a current CCFA Member and don’t have our invite already in your Outlook Calendar, please contact us. Otherwise, we look forward to seeing you there. As a reminder to faculty, we do not record General Meetings. You must be present to vote on motions. Minutes of CCFA General Meetings are attached to the next GM invite the day of the meeting, or can be made available by personal request.

Announcements for meetings, events, infosessions, workshops and other union news are available via the “opt-in” subscription newsletter on our website, invites are distributed via the Camosun College CCFA listserv, and the Confluence Blog digest. We are now issuing our GM and AGM invites as annually recurring meetings for long-range planning purposes. Please accept the series even if you are unsure you’ll be able to attend.

Lynelle is a queer, leftist rabble-rouser galvanized to guard the rights of union members and is on a crusade to convince you that you get out of your Union what you put into it. Lynelle serves on Presidents Council of the Federation of Post-Secondary Educators (FPSE) and was elected to FPSE Executive as a Member-at-Large. She is on a number of FPSE affiliate committees, including the 2SLGBTQIA+ and Racialized Workers Caucuses for the BC Fed. Lynelle volunteers for a rooftop community garden, which partners with Harvest & Share Food Aid Society to grow fresh produce for local food banks and community food security programs.
