Every year the PD committee reviews the funding guidelines and considers making revisions. Below are a few of this year’s changes. Please refer to the updated guidelines for more details.
- We no longer require chair and dean approval for memberships and subscriptions/materials.
- You can now claim Travel for PD activities within Greater Victoria area, (to/from your primary campus or a lesser distance), and meals for PD approved activities longer than four hours.
- We’ve added some language about what happens when there is a cancellation of a PD activity (e.g. some expenses may be reimbursed to you on a case-by-case basis).
- We’ve added a reminder for you to be aware of any travel advisories and take that into consideration before making your plans.
- We’ve clarified some reimbursement and advance limitations, such as:
- What happens when you submit an application late (“may not be reimbursed or may have a late hold placed on reimbursement until the end of that fiscal quarter”);
- All funding is based on the current fiscal year and applications received after that will not be considered;
- You need to still have a C number if you want to be reimbursed for PD expenses;
- You need to have a continuing position or a contract for the following term if you want to receive an advance on your PD funds;
- You can receive a maximum 70% advance on expenses, based on the term the expenses occur in;
- Previous advances need to be reconciled before subsequent advances can be issued.
- We’ve added language around what happens in the case of layoff.
- We’ve added some clarifying language for long-term PD applications.
- We’ve added the online Psychological First Aid course in the list of pre-approved activities.
- We have changed the language for educational technology to ensure it is not something the college already provides, and to ensure you review the Key Considerations for Adopting Educational Technology
