Hi Members,
During our recent Winter General Meeting, a member inquired if we were eligible for T2200 forms for our tax filing this year. Since I didn’t know the answer, but thought that there may be many of our members who had the same question, I’m sharing the College’s answer on our blog. The information inside of the text box is a copy of the email I received.
Re: Tax Documentation – T2200 Statements
The College does not provide T2200 tax slips to employees as there is no requirement for employees (under our employment agreements) to work from home or pay for their expenses as part of their employment with Camosun. A T2200 is only available when a work-from-home agreement is in place under an employment contract, or employees are required to pay for their own expenses related to their employment.
For the 2020, 2021 and 2022 tax years, there was a special T2200(S) form that was available to employees as a result of working from home due to COVID-19 and if employees wanted to claim the detailed method of calculating work-from-home expenses. However, this is not available for the 2023 tax year.
A new stipulation is in place for the 2023 tax year where a T2200 can be provided (or requested by an employee) if a verbal required/voluntary agreement has been entered into to work from home (telework arrangement) more than 50% of the employee’s time. Work-from-home arrangements are not greater than 50%. Therefore, the T2200 form is not applicable.

If you believe your individual work situation should be assessed differently or have an agreed upon telework arrangement and believe that you qualify for a T2200 form, please get in touch with us and we can help advocate for you.
