Greetings Members!

Have you been thinking about joining our Bargaining Team this year? We hope so!

What? You’re worried you won’t know what is going on since you’ve never been at a bargaining table before? Don’t worry, we got you!

This CAUT Collective Bargaining workshop is just for you, I know, I took it last year! We are proud to bring you another workshop being offered in conjunction with the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) through our Federation of Post Secondary Educators (FPSE) affiliation. This is an ideal course for those new to bargaining or interested in learning more about what goes on at the bargaining table.  It is a great way to develop bargaining experience in case you’re interested in joining us for the next round of negotiations.  I know this contract hasn’t even been printed yet, but in less than a year we’ll be back at the table again.  Please take advantage of this opportunity!

COLLECTIVE BARGAINING — April 02 – April 05, 2024

Tuesday April 210:00 am PSTIntroductory Session

Your collective agreement outlines the rights of your association’s members and the responsibilities of the administration. But negotiating an effective collective agreement requires preparation and practice:

  • Review Bargaining Basics
  • Examine the Legal Framework for Collective Bargaining their province.
  • Analyze their current collective agreement.
  • Strategize how to communicate with their members and other stakeholders.
  • Plan on how to manage the negotiating process and stay organized.
  • Identify best practices for preparing proposals and bargaining mandates.
  • Complete a simulation of a collective bargaining process.

**Webinars will be conducted in English and French with simultaneous interpretation available, as well as a dedicated French breakout room for the collective bargaining simulation.

As part of our affiliation agreement with FPSE, they undertake registration for our 19 FPSE locals (CCFA is Local 12) and submits a final registration list to CAUT.

To register, please complete the online registration form below by 4:00 PM on Thursday March 14, 2024 (No registrations can be accepted after this point).

Registration Form

Registration confirmation will be sent via email from CAUT by April 1, 2024, and include details for accessing the Canvas Learning Management System and Zoom links for virtual webinars.

Stay tuned for the next set of courses offered in Fall of 2024. These courses are a great way to explore more about Union service and labour relations. It is never too early (or late) to become an advocate for our Collective Agreement Rights – or join the team that helps shape them!

We’re still collecting your feedback in our Communications Survey & always looking for Confluence Blog contributors!
